Pure essential oil gently extracted in the drying process of wood of the Japanese Sugi tree – a tree from which the wood have been used in Japanese architecture through more than thousand years. Used extensively in timber framing, shrines, temples, and residential architecture. Its widespread use dates back to the Heian period (8th–12th century), particularly in large-scale temple construction and traditional houses. Sugi is favored for its straight grain, light weight, and resistance to decay.
