Guest lecturer at Washington University, Seattle

Lars Vejen invited as guest lecturer and teacher at the Furniture Studio at the Washington University / College of Built Environments. The course offers students a hands-on opportunity to design and fabricate furniture. Whether a seasoned maker or a beginner, the students will learn to work through ideation, design process and with wood and metal in the state-of-the-art fabrication lab.

Each quarter, students bring their ideas to life – balancing design, materials, costs, and deadlines – culminating in a finished piece by the end of the term. The experience is immersive, with students dedicating evenings and weekends to sketching, prototyping, and refining their work.

Rooted in the American “Studio Furniture” movement, this course emphasizes craftsmanship, creativity, and limited-production design. Since 2014, the Scan Design Foundation has proudly supported the studio, fostering innovation at the intersection of architecture and landscape architecture.
